oh good, I'm not alone... But this is the first time I ever asked around... it feels good? It amuses me when it happens, but I can't say that i derive pleasure from it... hi hi...how weird i'm having the ringing right now! i get it a lot, for me it lasts sometimes for 10 - 15 minutes or so. often i'll be lying in bed and it will just start, but sometimes at random times throughout the day. i get it in both ears though, it's like the sound is inside my head rather than something coming from outside. this latest bout started just as i was logging in to tribe. no idea what it is really, but i think it's picking up on some kind of energetic something or other.

yeah, not sure where i posted this before, but "ringing" in here.... yeah, i get this too...i've had it since i was a little kid....not tinitus...i've been to tons of concerts and discovered the joys of earplugs years ago, and feel it when i don't where them,...that type of ringing wears off after a night of sleep... this is something else entirely....it just comes on all the sudden, a high pitched ringing in either ear....that last for about 30 seconds or so... i used to be very superstitious about it....for some reason i made up this "rule" that whenver i heard the ringing, i would just pause, or freeze, whatever i was doing...just STOP and pay attention until the ringing subsided....if i concentrated on it, it would last a bit longer until it faded....if i followed my unspoken rule, it would just seem like a RECALLIBRATION of sorts....if i ignored it, and continued with whatever i was doing without stopping, inevitably, i would feel "off", off-kilter, out of step, out of synchronicity for a good while until i forgot about it......it always felt like something was trying to get my attention, and the least i could do, was to stop and pay attention.... still happens from time to time, and i still stop and wait.... it's a bit different, but similar to the "Inner Sound" of Nada Yoga....but i always like to think of it as some divine connection....cuz like, where is it coming from??

here's another good take on this. i posted it before: Clairaudience or the Divine Ear (Dibba-sota) and meditation induced tinnitus May 9, 2004 By the contemplative recluse monk Sotapanna Jhanananda (Jeffrey S, Brooks) (copyright 2005 all rights reserved) What the Buddha called "Dibba-sota" (Pali) is generally translated as "Divine ear" which is clairaudience. Clairaudience is primarily a hypersensitivity of the brain lobes that are related to hearing. This hypersensitivity can give someone uncanny hearing ability, it can also produce meditation induced tinnitus, as well as meditation induced vertigo. If you have tinnitus or vertigo it is wise to see a doctor or an audiologist just to make sure the problem is not organic, however I do not believe doctors and audiologists are qualified to comment on meditation induced tinnitus and vertigo. The key in knowing whether an individual's tinnitus is meditation induced is first and foremost to ask the person whether they have a contemplative practice. If not, then the tinnitus is most probably not a charismatic manifestation. Occasionally however there are individuals who manifest "spontaneous" charisms who have charismatic tinnitus, and other manifestations, without having been engaged in a contemplative practice. Spontaneous occurrences of charisms are, however, unusual. If the individual does have a meditation practice, then one should ask if the individual sustained a head injury or severe head cold prior to the emergence of the tinnitus. If there is a head injury or sickness effecting the hearing or sinuses, then this is most likely the cause. Finally if there is not a medical explanation for the tinnitus and the individual has a meditation practice, then the key deciding factor would be to ask the individual, "Does the tinnitus occur on one side only?" If the tinnitus is omnidirectional, which means it seems to come from everywhere or from the center of the head, then the individual probably has meditation induced tinnitus. At this point, we do not call it tinnitus, but the charismatic manifestation of clairaudience, or the "Divine Ear" (Dibba-sota) in Buddhism, and we say this individual is blessed and do continue your practice with diligence. And, do not resist the manifestation, nor should you endeavor to objectify it. In the case of a "spontaneous" charismatic, then these people are a special case. Again if the sound originates from everywhere or no where then it might be charismatic. Another way of telling whether an individual is a "spontaneous" charismatic is to find out if they have any of the other charisms, such as lucid dreaming, OOBs, etc. There is another way to tell if an individual is a "spontaneous" charismatic, introduce them to meditation. If the symptoms become pronounced from the practice of meditation, and if other charisms, such as charismatic vertigo, emerge then again we can suggest with reasonable assurance that the individual is a "spontaneous" charismatic. Charismatic vertigo often accompanies meditation induced tinnitus and goes by the name euphoria. So, anyone with these manifestations is blessed, and they should just keep practicing meditation and to arrange their life so that they are fully committed to their spiritual journey. Because, as the charisms emerge and become more profound, that individual's life will be transformed into a truly blessed one, as long as they do not resist the transformation. But, this transformation is likely to render that individual incapable of providing a subsistence for themselves. It's just crazy to read how many people have experienced this, since I too, have encountered this lately. In my opinion it's not tinnitus, since I work in sound-design, produce music, and like to go to psytrance events, and know exactly what tinnitus sounds like: high frequency, in both ears, usually gone when I wake up the next morning. The phenomenon described here comes and goes (for me) within seconds, sometimes pans from left to right, sometimes accompanied by strange visuals. The visual aspect is nothing specific, but a slight alteration in visual perception comparable to altered states, or perhaps, a seizure ;) After the first couple times I decided it was some sort of de-compression of the eardrums, yet one time it happened while I was in the studio mixing at 80db. If my eardrums were compressed from the sound pressure level I cannot find a logical explanation for them to de-compress while the sound level was still 80dB. Also it seemed to push the loudness of the music down, or it is just really f'n loud! Mine started about half a year ago, but from what I read some people had this 5 years ago, so it sounds like a very personal phenomena, and not so much something that is now suddenly happening to everyone and must therefore have something to do with 2012. Whatever it is, it never really made me change what I was doing, but now, that has changed. I'm gonna keep an ear out for these sounds - and look at the clock when they happen...

I agree with mia as far as Different ears and different meanings. When its on my left its always pretty profound and i will concentrate on it because it is interesting, and I will try to connect to WHAT it is doing and WHERE its from. But when its right ear I kind of get the vibe its negative or ELF pulses or a being attempting to project thoughts on me and or steal energy. I have heard this before from a Clairvoyant talking on coast to coast, but also I experience it very often. It seemed like my right ear would be triggered emmensivly for years as I was trying to Break Through and regain my Spirituality. It would be very annoying and I was interested as to the source of it. But now that I am sort of over the Hill and connected to my spirituality.. it seems like only my Left is triggered now. Strange... Anyone else with this experience?

I swear i made the ringing out to be between b flat and b this morning with the aid of a rather sensitive hand held tuner as is used for tuning guitars and other instruments. The tone seems loud to me now, so i had no trouble hitting the sound in three octaves, making the note into the tuner, and clearly made it to be between b flat and b all three so was satisfied. Later in the day, i kinda remembered that it was b flat that was the background note of the big bang, and when i googled this, this is what i got. Check out the hum or buzz you hear and see what note it makes! Also, the post was at 11:11 my time, without me trying to get that. Cali, as Mia says it varies and I do recall early on that on some occasions the clicking was both ears and sometimes only in the right. Entrainment can be thought of exactly as it sounds. That our cells are being trained to vibrate differently; at a higher frequency so whichever ones fall out of sync likely get attention. If you read my post above including the description of the Sacred Circuit, I did not include the fact that the entry point of cosmic energy is the top of the head (the Crown chakra). Keep in mind that we are talking energy here. The 'body' that receives this energy is not physical. On the other hand, the left hand to be precise, energy flows from left to right in the physical domain. Imagine 20 people sitting and holding hands. Energy would flow counter clock-wise (left to right). This is why I surmise that when hearing only in the left or the right ear that this is terrestrial (physical) energy.

Hi Nick, I just had this conversation last week, that is, whether technique is required. Both views are correct but it's a matter of perception. I agree that technique is an illusion. There is a book by that name as well - The Illusion of Technique by William Barett. Technique provides a stating point for any initiate. It's a way to explain efficient access but to depend on the technique is to miss the point the technique is seeking to reveal and some of the lessons learned remain such as asking permission to others and to the self, deep breathing and gratitude. I would love to see someone teach gratitude! First you close your eyes.....then you think of someone you love veeeery much......LOL While jogging on one of those machines in a gym, I tried to slow my heart rate without slowing the pace of the running. It was mildly effective. "I" was mildly effective. I didn't want to disappear in front of all those people! Wink!

Just an FYI to add to topic here... Did you know that your ears actually emit sound ? Seems strange but its true... It is a normal healthy biological occurrence that everyone has. These brief tones called otoacoustic emissions can happen anytime and the pitch or frequency can be anywhere within our hearing spectrum. it doesn't have to be predominantly the left cali. i think everyone is different. it's like a flip gets switched. it can stay on for a short period of time or for extended. i've gotten used to mine, which like others has become constant over the past year. when the switch gets "flipped" to higher voltage, then it gets really loud. it's at these times that i start going into unintended, altered states of consciousness... or whatever one chooses to call it. there is a correlation with myself, though i really don't understand it all. i'm sure everyone is different.

I think it is good to do toning in harmonies with it. all of this has a physical explanation AND simultaneously other more unusual explanations.. I too have had constant tinnitus for 5 or so years. I hear my own blood flowing and have on occasion slowed my heart beat consciously. You don't need to follow traditional meditative technique to do this. Greetings Mr. Royal Davidsjelly, this is a topic of great personal interest to me. I have researched it as well inquired extensively. I can unequivocally say that this is not tinnitus. In the mid 1990s', I started hearing tapping noises in my left ear and high pitched buzzing. This is not the 'biological noise' that you hear in a sound isolation room or a sauna. I met a woman who said, "You get the morse code too? What about boat legs?" I immediately knew what she was referring to given that on occasion I would feel like the bottom dropped out momentarily from beneath my feet. This is connected to the buzzing. I had the opportunity to listen to one of Gregg Braden's early audio tapes where he described this phenomenon and noted that on his world journeys, about 10% of the people he met were hearing buzzing noises. Braden speculated that it's a result of the Earth changes that we are experiencing (in relation to 2012 by the way). He wrote a book called Awakening to Zero point and what this means is that the core frequency of eh Earth, called the Schumann resonance, historically was measured at 7.8 Hertz (Hz). This frequency is speeding up and the Earth's magnetics is approaching zero. There is a pattern to this that from memory was noted in the geological record 14 times as evidenced by an increase in magnetite in this layers of strata. I do not agree that the frequency will approach 13 on December 2012 based on the Fibonacci sequence, but the notion of the Quickening is scientifically valid and audible to some people. The reason has to do with the crystalline nature of our cells and the crystalline nature of the core of the Earth and the change in physical spin rates as well as energy frequencies (both happen at once). Long story short, DNA is an antenna first expressed as amino acids. Amino acids are regulated by emotion. The human heart, which is a toroidal turbine (not a pump) perpetually seeks to entrain itself to the Earth's frequency. The Earth entrains to our sun and our sun to the Central Sun (the source of the life force and likely dwelling place of Christ consciousness). The ancients called this the Sacred Circuit. As the central sun begins to admit higher energy (the physical point of 2012 inquiry), the entire galaxy begins to heat up changing the magnetics and the frequency of every planet. As the frequency increases, every cell in the body is trying to entrain to these changes. When the changes come quickly as in a wave, we experience 'boat legs' because the energy feels like someone has whipped the end of a carpet that we are standing on as it passes by and through us. When the energy is more gradual, some people hear the differences between the crystal oscillations of the body and the crystal oscillations of the center of the Earth and usually, as many of you describe, the tone or buzz slowly fades as the difference normalizes and falls into background awareness. This is not unlike NOT being aware that the Earth is rotating a multiples tens of thousands of miles per hour and we don't feel it because it's steady and has not changed since our birth. Braden explains that the Earth's rotation is slowing down though IMO, it's the gravitational energy that is shifting and not the physical part. Personally, for the past five years I have has a high pitched hum in both ears 24 hours per day. I hear it when I am in a quiet place and do not notice it most of the time. When asking groups of people, there is nearly always one or two people that will say the same thing. Other explanations I have heard: The Taos Hum - and a similar hum in Northern England, was so intense that some people committed suicide. They felt it was a man made noise. I am not sure the source though it appears to be seismic. With the heating up of the Earth, the layers are rotating at different speeds. It follows that this would produce different 'tones'. A much higher percentage of the population than 10% could hear the hum in these instances. Taos is very close to an alleged underground base and some highly controversial off world technology that living witnesses have described as well. Naturopathic Doctors - will tell you that when certain organs are out of balance, some people hear a hum but this is usually in one ear. This relates to digestion and toxicity. HAARP and ELF bombs - I read an article by Nick Begich that stated the Alaskan HAARP base has been in full operation for about five years, 24/7, about a year ago. This timing does correspond to my own experience. FYI, HAARP hyper ionizes the ionosphere (about 60 miles up) which some feel is the means by which weather control is achieved. On the other hand, if you read Pat Flanagan's book on Pyramid Power, an ionized (-) atmosphere is exceptionally 'nutritious' for the body in a (+) environment! Biological Noise - if our bodies are changing with great intensity, which they are at this time, the energy exchanges and mechanical properties can be heard. Seasoned meditators claim to be able to hear the blood running through their veins. Though difficult to prove, that would be a strange claim to pursue so I give the benefit of the doubt. As the sacred circuit reasserts its presence in certain people, we may be hearing what I describe as the sound of the vacuum (which is not empty and not silent). Temporal Noise - Time is a living entity that resolves the anomalies perpetrated by polarized magnetics without which I suspect instant manifestation would occur. Just as thunder is a result of the clapping together of air after the electric lighting creates a brief vacuum, imagine a cosmic void that is being closed constantly due to the current, constant changes. This is possible given that space-time's opposite, time-space, is merging (across the cosmic void) and explains, at least in theory, what is meant by the Earth moving into the 4th density. This is the dimension with no opposites - a unified, holistic state of being. Conclusion / best opinion - our beliefs and emotions advise and modulate our DNA. It's my opinion that people who tune into the increased photonic energy, by deciding to do so, along with the many related responsibilities that go with this, also tune into the Earth's electromagnetic changes more consciously than others and as the magnetism drops away (approaches zero) so does the resistance. Biological Noise and Temporal Noise all meld together into one continuous hum. I do not think what is happening now is terrestrial. I think what I experienced 15 years ago (the tapping and the boat legs) was terrestrial. Earth change first, then cell awareness, then energy sensitivity, then cosmic consciousness; It's a circuit and a process of change. Our ears 'hear' vibration and with lowered intellectual resistance, a more sensitive body literally hears the higher frequency. If the frequency is modulated, though superfast relative to the traditional 7.8 Hz Schumann, it is impossible to discern where one wave ends and the next begins so it sounds like a constant hum. Sound by the way is spherical. There is no such thing as a wave. A wave is a mathematical description. This is how crop circles occur!

Mia are you saying kundalini may have something to do with government mind control ? When i went through kundalini I unlocked certain powers... Now I seriously doubt the government would do me a such a favor. I am open to the possibility that some ringing is due to government mind control or alien intervention, but kundalini isn't a bad thing. My theory on some types of ringing I am familiar with is that one hears ether or spirit vibrating at different levels when they are slipping in and out of dimensions or simply becoming aware of them.

First, I would have to ask if the ringing in the ears associated with a spiritual experience is a physical manifestation or is it your subconscious comunicating with your conscious self regarding information gathered from your 6th sense but trying to relay it in normal sensory terms? NB I tend to smell ghosts rather than see them and smell energy that is adverse to me. As for me, I get ringing in both ears when I am shiney or feeling spooky with no differentiation. However, from my reiki training I know that people experience the same spiritual events in different ways. Therefore, if your experience and intuition are telling you that one ear is flagging one type of experience and the other ear is flagging a different experience, then that is how it is. That must be a usefull tool to have. As for the psychic attack, I would be interested to know how severe it is and what you do to protect yourself. As a long term sufferer myself of psychic attack and energy thieves I am always on the look out for better ways to defend myself. I will admit that I have ceased to look for more efficient ways to put up my 'psychic gloves' to defend myself as puches always get through or knock your own gloves into your face (metaphorically speaking of course). The tinnitus points are missing the point. I know loads of people who have experienced this phenomena, as I have, for many years. The sounds come at different pitches and at different times. I have had other people with me, confirm the sound when it has begun and ended. I have had strange sounds of varying frequencies for a few seconds after I have thought of someone (for example). I have had prolonged low frequency sounds in places where I have lived and gone out at night on a bike to find the source. In one city I found the source of the low pulse. It was emanating from a large, geometrically shaped, Lloyds Insurance building in the city centre. Others had heard the tone that I had heard. When a friend and I went to the building one night after a gig, my friend went up to the door and was confronted by 2 plain clothes security men. When he asked them why the big underground power source he was told that it was for the cleaners. As we mused afterwards, cleaners do not need any more than normal power sockets to run vacuum cleaners, they certainly don't need a seperate generator. The building itself is constructed as a circle and a semi-circle, which many will know is a mercurial symbol. Persistant ringing is not my issue. I am prety sure dave mentioned 45 seconds or so. The tones I hear aren't that long. I hear them for seconds and go for long periods hearing nothing, some times weeks.

We are talking about a tone that appears and disappears in about 10 seconds or so, maybe longer. I get the same thing often. The book "Healing with the Faeries" by Doreen Virtue claims it is Angel downloads, fine tuning our systems and giving pertinent information to our bodies. I kind of like that idea, so I stick with that.

And just because there is a physical aspect to it which can be detected and labeled doesn't mean there is no other layer of meaning to it nor does it mean the physical aspect is causal. Again if you only look to the physical/material level that is all you are going to see. There may well be a physical manifestation of something like this and I'm sure there is since its acting on a physical sense but that in no way negates there being other levels to it. No one who experiences this has mentioned whether or not they are professional musicians or regular concert and club attendees. Spending a lot of time around highly amplified noise can cause persistent ringing as well as some hearing loss, sometimes permanent. Nightclubs, loud sound systems, iPods, and so forth are a physical cause worth investigating.

it has been happenig to me for many years. 3 days ago, we had a really loud field event in our kitche with two distinct spots where max volumes were encountered. we switched off all elecs and the loud hum persisted. after an hour, it was gone.

I've had the experience of ringing in my ears for some time now. It involves various types of tones in one ear or the other or in both. Sometimes it moves from one to the other like something is going by. I also experience flashes of light, sometimes just pinpoints and sometimes brighter flashes. I've had both things looked at by doctors and on the ear side they said maybe tinnitus and on the eye side they could find no physical cause to explain it. I experience both of these things to be a heightened awareness of the non-physical environment and they coincide with transformation and increased spiritual practice for me. One point I want to make here is often when people report these sounds in their ears others explain it as tinnitus or some other physical condition and dismiss any further meaning or explanation. I find this to be a very limited viewpoint because if we only look at it from a physical perspective that is all we are going to see. If there is a physical explanation for something like this, that doesn't mean there aren't other aspects to it also, other layers of meaning. The physical condition may just be the way its manifesting physically, it says nothing about what may be behind that. How we experience these phenomena and the meaning they hold for us is equally if not more important.

I get 3 distinct types of ring in my ears quite frequently. Two of the different rings are high and low. I attribute the sounds to my idea of a universal beacon beaming messages or the like to my subconscious. Sometimes I even think the sounds may simply be the vibrations of the Universe spinning. That would make the ring a sign of being in the moment. For the last year I have been hearing a new sound as well, a more electronic, computerized sounding tone more similar to a keypad type tone than a ringging tone. I have no idea what to make of this?

hellooooooooooo davidsjelliciousness!! can't remember if I answered when you previously posted...but yes, I have experienced the buzzing or ringing in the ears...not so much these days but actively when my kundalini was first activated and for several years afterward as the energy integrated with my body secondary noises they call them...i've had them checked out by medical people, along with the "lights" or auras that sometimes go along with the ringing ears and nothing "physical" was found of consequence. I often get a zig zag neon looking light in the shape of an arch somewhere in there with the buzz buzz ring of the ear. I used to notice that soon after that experience i'd feel the kundalini stirring at the spine and the top of my head tingling, burning or buzzing, then would come a "vision" "knowing" or other spontaneous enveloping higher emotion or field, etc. I'd sit to write fervously, do art beyond my normal skill, draw upside down and other freaky sort of personal encounters with the strangeness capable in this body. You know, all the fun and fantastic stuff that comes along with a body tuning to higher frequency. Some sort of developmental human stage that we like to call "spiritual awakening." :+) So in my book I file it under noises, stirrings and experiences as a result of a body adjusting to a higher personal frequency.

hiya bewwwtifulls! i posted something like this a year or so ago and got a pretty nice response of various ideas and beliefs. since there is a whole new lovely bunch on this tribe these days, i thought i'd ask again. and... it seems a good time for a sidetracking thread. i somewhat regularly get a distinct and very loud tone in one ear or the other. it lasts anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute and then fades out. do many of you experience this? any thoughts on what this is and where it comes from? distractedhugs,
