“…This is important research. Read it carefully, with an open mind. Considering the use of fluorides (sodium fluoride) in drinking water and toothpaste, you may already be in denial. Fluorides (we are told) are for the prevention of tooth decay. You, the reader, can decide if they really work. The real reason they are added to your drinking water and toothpaste is to cause you to become psychologically and physically placid, and therefore, apathetic. The Nazis were well aware that constant, systemic doses of fluoride has this effect on people.”

Re: Why avoid tap water and most brands of toothpaste?
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 7:05 PMWhere I live we have a radio program every week that discusses things like fluoride, artificial sweeteners, tap water, and much more. I buy toothpaste without fluoride all the time now. And I get my water from a store that has a really interesting machine that does all kinds of different things to the water that people buy there. Another thing that should not be in drinking water is chlorine. -

Fluoride is being introduced into imported foods
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:16 AMAugust 2006 Idaho Observer: Comment period closed; feds preparing to spray fruits, vegetables in commerce with fluorine-based pesticide. The Environmental Protection Agency opposes the fluoridation of water, but is preparing to enforce an administrative rule that will cause domestic and imported fruits and vegetables in commerce to be fumigated with "ProFume"—a fluorine-based pesticide.
…we have been following the work of the scientists and physicians who oppose the use of fluoride. They have always stuck to the adverse affects of fluoride and have stayed away from discussing the political "benefits" government may enjoy as a result of mass-medicating populations with systemic doses of fluoride…
…Fluoride is an extreme poison that has been foisted on us by the Government and vested interests in spite of the thousands of investigations that have proved it to be very deleterious to health.

The issue at hand
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:17 AM
In a November 28, 2005 letter to Dow AgroSciences, Maureen Serafini, Director, NYS Bureau of Pesticides, approved sulfuryl fluoride (ProFume®) fumigant on all processed foods and a large number of raw food commodities in New York. These are the foods most Americans eat.
In response, FAN’s Pesticide Project Director, Ellen Connett, requested Director Serafini to revoke this approval.
Because sulfuryl fluoride breaks down to fluoride in the human body, fluoride is the endpoint of toxicological concern. In their approval, EPA approved the highest levels of fluoride residues in food in U.S. history. Fluoride is persistent and bio-accumulates in the human body.
… And it is no accident that the addition of flourides is being advocated at this time--Flouride is part of the "dumming down" process.

Little known fact
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:18 AM… fluoride compounds were added to the drinking water of prisoners to keep them docile and inhibit questioning of authority, both in Nazi prison camps in World War II and in the Soviet gulags in Siberia.
Fluorides are medically categorized as protoplasmic poisons, which is why they are used to kill rodents.
"Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century." ~Robert Carlton, Ph. D., former U. S. EPA scientist on "Marketplace" Canadian Broadcast Company, Nov. 24, 1992.
"Regarding fluoridation, the EPA should act immediately to protect the public, not just on the cancer data, but on the evidence of bone fractures, arthritis, mutagenicity and other effects."~William Marcus, Ph. D., senior EPA toxicologist, Covert Action, Fall 1992, p. 66

Fluoride Stupidity And Population Control
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:18 AM(Preferred Network, March 24, 2005)
"The real reason behind water fluoridation is not to benefit children's teeth. If this were the real reason there are many ways in which it could be done that are much easier, cheaper and far more effective. The real purpose behind water fluoridation is to reduce the resistance of the masses to domination and control and loss of liberty.
When the Nazis under Hitler decided to go into Poland, both the German General Staff and the Russian General Staff exchanged scientific and military ideas, plans, and personnel, and the scheme of mass control through water medication was seized upon by the Russian Communists because it fitted ideally into their plan to communize the world. ...
I was told of this entire scheme by a German chemist who was an official of the great IG Farben chemical industries and was also prominent in the Nazi movement at the time. I say this with all the earnestness and sincerity of a scientist who has spent nearly 20 years’ research into the chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology of fluorine--any person who drinks artificially fluorinated water for a period of one year or more will never again be the same person—mentally or physically."

The Flouride Conspiracy
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:19 AMSome excerpts: Farben had developed plans during the war to fluoridate the occupied countries because it was found that fluoridation caused slight damage to a specific part of the brain, making it more difficult for the person affected to defend his freedom and causing the individual to become more docile towards authority. Fluoride remains one of the strongest anti-psychotic substances known, and is contained in twenty-five percent of the major tranquilizers. It may not seem surprising that Hitler’s regime practiced the concept of mind control through chemical means, but the American military continued Nazi research, exploring techniques to incapacitate an enemy or medicate an entire nation. As stated in the Rockerfeller Report, a Presidential briefing on CIA activities, "the drug program was part of a much larger CIA program to study possible means of controlling human behavior" (Stephen 1995).
At the end of World War II, the U.S. government sent Charles Eliot Perkins, a research worker in chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology, to take charge of the vast Farben chemical plants in Germany. The German chemists told Perkins of a scheme which they had devised during the war and had been adapted by the German General Staff. The German chemists explained of their attempt to control the population in any given area through the mass medication of drinking water with sodium fluoride, a tactic used in German and Russian prisoner of war camps to make the prisoners "stupid and docile"(Stephen 1995). -

Take Action
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:20 AMIf you haven't done so already please add your voice in support of this effort to stop the further contamination of our food supply with fluoride.
Writing a letter to your local newspaper is an invaluable way of informing your community of the health and ethical concerns surrounding water fluoridation. Let the readers of your favorite paper know that there is no need to swallow fluoride; that the FDA has never approved any fluoride product designed to be ingested; that fluoride is the only chemical added to water that does not treat the water itself; that 98% of western Europe has rejected water fluoridation; that the fluoride chemical used for fluoridation is an unprocessed industrial waste product; that most people are already receiving too much fluoride from their toothpaste and diets; that recent research has linked fluoride to serious health problems including arthritis, hip fracture, Alzheimers disease, and cancer; and that readers can learn about the issue for themselves at www.fluoridealert.org.
Tell your friends and family
There should be no underestimating the power of word-of-mouth communication. Tell your friends and family about what you have learned concerning fluoride. Let them know that the benefits have been greatly exaggerated and the risks ignored; that the vast majority of western Europe has rejected water fluoridation and yet has experienced the same decline in tooth decay as the U.S.; that the scientists and professionals at EPA’s Headquarters Union in Washington, D.C., have recently called for a "national moratorium" on fluoridation; and that more than 70 U.S. communities have rejected fluoridation since 1999.
Let them also know about the Fluoride Action Network!

Fluoride is of issue because Melatonin levels are effected.
Wed, June 13, 2007 - 6:54 AM“…melatonin production (as measured by the concentration of a melatonin metabolite in the urine) was lower in the animals treated with high fluoride levels compared with those treated with low levels….Significance? Huge. Melatonin is responsible for regulating all kinds of activities and there is a vast amount of work investigating its possible roles in aging, cancer and many other life processes….When one considers the seriousness of a possible interference by fluoride on a growing child's pineal gland (and for that matter, elderly pineal glands) it underlines the recklessness of fluoridation. The precautionary principle would say, as would basic common sense, that you don't take these kind of risks with our children for a benefit which, at best, amounts to 0.6 tooth surfaces out of 128 tooth surfaces in a child's mouth

Re: The Flouride Conspiracy
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 3:21 PMI'm not against this possibility: that the people in power are employing sodium fluoride in drinking water to dumb us down, keep us docile.
However, having done my own research on this issue, I would like to add some other implications to this discussion:
First, sodium fluoride is an industrial waste product. It comes from aluminum processing and the chemical fertilizer industry, to name to well-known sources.
"The most common substances now used for fluoridation are hydrofluosilicic acid and sodium silicofluoride, which are waste products that are captured in scrubber systems of the phosphate fertilizer industry. The resulting toxic waste can not be diluted by 1 million or even 3 million or 10 million to 1 and dumped in the ocean or river or landfill, nor allowed to escape into the air because it would kill all the plants and animals and people. And it can't be given away because it would sill be classified as Class I toxic waste and have to be neutralized at the highest rated hazardous waste facility at a cost of $1.40 per gallon, or more depending on how much cadmium, lead, uranium, and arsenic are also present.
But if destined for a water district that will pay $0.35 to $0.45 per gallon for transportation, the 23% solution in industrial waste water is magically pronounced benign and shipped, untreated, to be mixed in our water." (keepers-of-the-Well.org)
So cost is the first issue, and corporate irresponsibility. The second issue is credibility. The American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, and the Centers for Disease Control maintain the official position that fluoride in water, up to 1.0ppm is not only safe, but preventative of dental cavities.
"The featured Cover Story of the July 2000 Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) is a 13 page article authored by John Featherstone, M.Sc., Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Preventative and Restorative Dental Sciences and Department of Dental Public Heath and Hygiene, University of California, San Fransisco...Following in the footsteps of 16 other cited articles that he has either authored or co-authored, Featherstone reminds the reader (in this case dues-paying members of the American Dental Association) that fluoride's preventative action is topical rather than systematic." He spoke the same message at the 1997 Canadian conference on controlled-dose fluoride supplements. (Citizens for Safe Drinking Water, Keeper-of the Well.org)
Consider also that dentists have no medical jurisdiction in any of the human body save the mouth. They can damn ingesting drinking water CONTAMINATED with industrial fluoride waste, but it would take the American Medical Association or the Centers of Disease Control to "whistle-blow" on the disasterous medical side-effects of long-term fluoride ingestion. There a piles and piles of studies on this, on lab animals and people, done around the world, not just in the United States.
Assistant Director of the Department of Environmental Health for the American Medical Association Joseph E. Flanagan, Jr., in 1965, wrote, "The American Medical Association is not prepared to state that "no harm will be done to any person by water fluoridation."
The American Medical Association has not carried out any research work, eaither long-term or short-term, regarding the possibility of any side effects"
From the NorthCoast Journal Weekly, "Fluoridated water has been hailed by the Centers for Disdease Control and Prevention as one of the 10 greatest public health achievements of the 20th century, reducing cavities for pennies on the dollar by 30 to 60 percent in children and 20 to 40 percent in adults". (October 19, 2006)
I reasearched this issue following the let-down that my city voted against a ballot measure to "prohibit the introduction into the City of Arcata's public drinking water supply of any substance that is not approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where the purpose of the additive is to treat physical or mental functions rather than to make water safe or potable."
I couldn't understand why my city was against examining whether their water was healthy or not, because this is one fucntion of the measure, the other was to regulate any future additions to water. This was about public safety.
The conclusions I reached from this event, and from my subsequent research, is that Doctors have authority that people believe, and 'children and the poor' pull the voters' heart-strings; this was the tactic of the people who campaigned against water purity, and won.
This is, for me, an issue of money, power, and unaccountability. Sure, water fluoridation causes a whole host of health effects, including an alzheimer's-like DEMENTIA, which would make people more susceptible to mind control; but honestly that's SCARY. It's easier, in my opinion, to remedy a problem such as this if we can imagine the culprets are not EVIL over lords whom wish to torture us and bend us to their will; that's the military. The culprets are fearful doctors who will suffer a MASSIVE loss of accountability and quasi-relidious authority for having backed a toxic substance as safe; the politicians who have supported this (or probably not), and corporate criminals.
The problem must be digestibe and comprehensible in order to solve it. But a part of me agrees also with the mind-control arguement. ADVERTISING. We are mind-controlled. We owe a lot of our medical advances to Nazi doctors (what's that say about doctors?). -

There's a bit more to this thread, Hoopes, than you've given notice to. I suggest you read more that the initial posting before commenting again. BTW, I'm surprised that an individual as astute as you portray yourself to be choses to be so lackadaisical about your own personal health. Besides the water being fluoridated there are other toxic chemicals present such as chlorine. Once again, I do recommend doing the research before touting opinions. Perhaps you could be even more intuitively aware if you'd only give youreslf the chance.

Re: Why avoid tap water and most brands of toothpaste?
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 4:30 PMThis must be why people in Portland are so active and non-apathetic, relatively speaking, because we don't have fluoridated water!
Fluoridating water really makes no sense. Ingesting fluoride does nothing for the teeth. It takes direct contact. Fluoridated toothpaste, OTOH, need not be ingested at all, if one rinses one's mouth thoroughly after brushing.

Wed, June 6, 2007 - 7:26 PMif used improperly. As long as the food particles are removed by proper brush strokes all is well. A good dental hygienist instructs the patient how to best utilize dental floss and a toothbrush. Re: Flouride
Sat, June 9, 2007 - 9:25 AMThe tubes usually list the flouride as 'Sodium Monoflorophosphate' or similar.
Actually there is plenty of evidence that suggests that natural flouride from ore is not detrimental to health. Some toothpastes have it, such as Lavera and Squigle. Some have in combination with Xylitol which is a sweetener that is shown to benefit teeth by preventing enamel damage.
What is most important is to avoid Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate which sensitises the gums, accumulates in the eyes, is an industrial strength detergent which MSDS is quite specific about. It is used as a foaming agent and is unnecessary. It is in all main brands of toothpastes and shampoos. Avoid it!
Also to avoid is Propylene Glycol. PG is an irritant, an ingredient in anti-freeze, blocks pores, is a neuro-toxin and accumulates in the organs.
Both these substances are implicated in cancer because they are often contaminated with carcinogens or readily form carcinogenic nitrosamines when mixed with other ingredients.
Neways has a list of ingredients to avoid and which they specifically do not include in their products, directly because of links with serious diseases and acute sensitivity.
Both Toms Of Maine and Kingfisher have disputed that SLS/SLES is a problem, as have a host of other companies that include it in their products. So lots of health conscious people are being duped by companies who have the wrong information or simply do not care about their customers, and accept the 'acceptable risks' involved with using potential toxins.
Both Lavera and Squigle do not have SLS/SLES directly because they are known to cause mouth ulcers. Why on Earth would any other company want to include such dangerous products?
Neways produces a mouthwash made with Sodium Chlorite (stabilised Chlorine Dioxide) which includes no SLS and is very good (in my experience).
Other companies do a range of safe products too and all are to be commended.
I have been told by 3 separate dentists (including one Mercury-free) that Flouride is vital for the teeth, for preventing the loss of enamel, and that whole generations are growing up with almost no cavities thanks to Flouride. The worst cases of decay are in older people who did not have the knowledge that there is now, who didn't brush properly, who had poor dental work, who ate loads of refined foods (which deplete calcium), who didn't have electric toothbrushes (my preference now), and before the new breed of very expert 'dental hygienists', but who also did not get Flouride.
Flouride can come from natural ore, Calcium Flouride.
Natural Flouride is used in Homeopathy and Tissue Salts as a remedy for tooth decay and bone problems.
Black Tea contains all the Flouride a body needs in about 4 cups a day. Perhaps Green Tea too.
I've been campaigning for awareness about the artificial industrial flourides since 1995. We know that Margaret Thatcher (a bio-chemist) (and Bilderberger, fascist pig, thief, liar and murderer) introduced water flouridation to the UK and must have known about Faben, the Russians and Germans, and all that.
It seems very important that humans retain their free-will now as we head for a major evolutionary change. May it be so!

Fluoride
Sat, June 9, 2007 - 11:27 AMAvoiding the primary cleaning agent Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is also important and that added ingredient is not in the recommended Jason’s “Sea Fresh” product that I mentioned in an earlier post, for that much I was aware of, however thanks for sharing the side effects of Propylene Glycol that may be important for us to be conscious of.
I am wondering if Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (used in aforementioned Jason’s toothpaste) has any known negative effects. It appears practically every brand has pros and cons. On the other hand, “Sea Fresh” does contain blue green algae, which definitely appeals to me.
The claim: “…whole generations are growing up with almost no cavities thanks to Flouride.” seems rather bogus and unsubstantiated. I’d like to see some stats on that.
The fact that “fluoride can come from natural ore, Calcium Fluoride” does not necessarily make it safe for consumption or make it beneficial for teeth cleaning and/or maintenance.
In common dictionary it even says: fluoride is a compound of fluorine with another element or group, esp. a salt of the anion F − or an organic compound with fluorine bonded to an alkyl group.
• sodium fluoride or another fluorine-containing salt added to water supplies or toothpaste in order to reduce tooth decay.
Still I cannot consider fluoride usage safe or condone its use until I have more conclusive and reliable data on this matter that it is true.
Why be “campaigning for awareness about the artificial industrial fluorides” used unless they are harmful? Thanks Psi, for your link.
See this page for tons of info: www.wnho.net/fluoridenews.htm

Re: Fluoride
Mon, June 11, 2007 - 4:06 AMDon't have any 'stats' on flouride just what my various dentists told me is the research, and that includes mercury-free, alternative and homeopathic dentists.
I've been campaigning against flouride in water supplies and all the effluent versions of 'flouride' since '95, directly because I know what it is designed for (ie mind control). Sodium Monoflourophosphate is a name made up for waste products from Aluminium and fertiliser industry waste that someone found affects the mind/will, and makes a good profit.
I am not pro-flouride except that I know that natural ore-based flouride is quite different and not an industrial 'waste product'. It is a fact that leaf tea contains flouride in substantial quantities. I am well aware that excess flouride and chlorine negatively affect the thyroid gland and suppress the utilisation of iodine.
As with all things that is a point of excess. It is wise not to 'throw out the baby with the bathwater'!
So I am using natural ore based flouride toothpastes and others which contain xylitol, COQ10, Aloe, and other healthy options (including homeopathic ones). I have various.
Dentists say that flouride does protect tooth enamel and they apparently have plenty of studies to show that (ask dental groups for their info). The point is whether humans should be taking flouride internally in such large quantities or indeed at all, and of course the answer is "no!".
Like many others I am skeptical about any research done by the same groups who were dumping mercury, lead and cadmium into our mouths until they faced legal liability in certain countries. I know that they are charging huge sums to remove the crappy mercury amalgams that they put in!
Like all minerals that exist naturally, humans will have trace quantities of flouride naturally in their bodies.
Some natural minerals are abundant in the body, yet when taken excessively from an external source cause big problems.
One example is calcium. If a human consumes large amounts of calcium on prescription, or large amounts in the white emulsion called 'milk', without the presence of enough magnesium and Vit D, the calcium will collect in the joints and cause arthritis and disfigurement over time. Calcium cause muscles to relax and allow healing to take place, which is why doctors often prescribe it for fractures.
The question is always what is the source of the mineral and whether it is ionic, colloidal, tablet, and whether it has fulvic acid (which assists in the absorption of minerals).
I also like the site Shirley's Wellness Cafe (www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/) which has loads of links, and so many that I do not have time to read the whole. The page about Flouride discusses the aspects of flouridation of water supplies and the concentrations in toothpaste and mouthwash causing mouth & tooth problems. The point that I see everywhere is the use of industrial waste 'flourides' is the problem, and biggest of all is the compulsory use and the lies about its use. More definitive research needed about natural ores.
Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate doesn't appear in my copy of The Chemical Maze. What appears is reference to Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sarcosinate. The Isethionate version is a surfactant which appears alright. The Sarcosinate is also a surfactant which may cause formation of Nitrosamines and can enhance the penetration of the skin by other ingredients, so not so good.
There is no doubt in my mind that we humans need to stimulate stem cell counts through the consumption of sources of glyconutrients. Natural sources include Goji juice and fruits, and marine phyto-plankton.
When stem cell are in sufficient quantities in the body organs will be regenerated. This is fantastic 'key' to exploring body regeneration and healthy longevity. Drug corporations want to isolate substances and make drugs to stimulate stem cells and patent for their profit, but we don't need their b.s, just to eat more and better super-nutrients ('neutraceuticals').
Here's to health!

Thu, June 14, 2007 - 10:50 AMThis is a good discussion, thanks everyone. Being from Portland I've always heard the fluoride debate but never really made any effort to avoid it in toothpaste and shampoo. It never really meant much to me as a health issue alone, and it wasn't of much real concern of mine until I was a bit older and could really make sense of some of the other arguments against it like the ones presented here. I do remember being quite entertained by the news story a few years ago of a federal regulator being sent in to fluoridate our water and being completely shot down by citizens groups and the local media. Listening on the radio to this brainless beurocrat yes-man being flummoxed by actual thinking, concerned, informed citizens was pretty fun. But I think that post-9/11 they actually have succeeded in fluoridating our water here. I don't have a source on that, but it would be good to look into.
Just to make it really plain and simple for me could someone provide links to:
* non-fluoride toothpaste and shampoo brands
* instructions on DIY toothpaste
* fluoride-free food standards. Does "organic" cover fluoride?
* water de-fluoride filters, if they exist?
even if they've already been mentioned above.
Is there an "anti-fluoride" besides simply avoiding it? I was a good little kid and used my big name-brand toothpaste every day growing up; is there a residual effect? -

The Great Fluoride Scam
Another article...if you're still not convinced.
"But alas, after years of drinking, scrubbing and consuming fluoride-laced products, we now learn that we've been scammed. This chemical is found to be totally ineffective in preventing tooth decay. Not only that, it seems to be directly linked to a variety of medical problems ranging from discolored teeth to bone disease and cancer."
"In short, fluoride is a poison."

THE LAW OF HALOGEN DISPLACEMENT
Sun, June 17, 2007 - 9:12 PMNo discussion about the body's immune system would be complete without an explanation of THE LAW OF HALOGEN DISPLACEMENT. There are five elements that make up what is known as the HALOGEN family of elements. The Halogen Law states that, "The Halogen element having the LOWEST atomic weight will ALWAYS DISPLACE another within the Halogen group whose atomic weight is greater." Arranged in ascending order, the Halogen family is as follows:
Element Symbol Atomic Weight
Fluorine F 9 Chlorine Cl 17 Bromine Br 35 Iodine I 53 Asatine At 85
Both Fluorine and Chlorine are sometimes additives to public water supplies. These two toxic elements will ALWAYS displace Iodine, an element that is vitally needed to protect your Thyroid gland and prevent "goiter" and poisoning from "radioactive fallout." Fluorine will decompose almost ALL compounds to form fluorides, and the most important element for man's existenceOXYGENWILL NEVER combine with it. Both the element Fluorine and Hydrofloric Acid are dangerous "cumulative poisons." Also, Chlorine is a greenish-yellow gas that, because it attacks the respiratory tract, is almost always included in most of the "war gases".
What I am saying here is: You should determine if your public water supply is being treated with either (or both!) fluoride or chlorine. If it is, I would advise you to start drinking (and cooking with) ONLY "distilled water". Get your minerals from some other source! ALSO, ANOTHER SPECIAL NOTE: In any situation where radioactive fallout is either imminent or actually occurring, you should DEFINATELY use the iodine treatment for ALL water that is to be consumed for drinking or cooking. This is done to flood your Thyroid with the harmless iodine in order to block the absorption of radio-active Iodine-131, which is also dissolvable in water.
Use IODINE (USP 2 %) to disinfect water. Use 5-6 drops per quart of water or, as much as it will take for you to notice the iodine smell. In fact, Iodine works better on some hard to kill germs than does chlorine.

Re: Why avoid tap water and most brands of toothpaste?
Mon, June 18, 2007 - 10:50 AMMost conscious people know that flouride is dangerous. My dentist accidentally told me when I was 12 that the only client of his who every refused flouride for herself and her family was a chemist. That got me thinkin...
Flouride petrifies cells. Most bottled waters do not remove flouride, chlorine, and other chemicals. Getting clean water takes dedication. -

Mon, June 18, 2007 - 5:27 PMCoral White Toothpaste is my absolute favorite
Also, I'm pretty sure you can get clean water bottled as long its from a mountain spring source, regular bottled water, ie, not from a spring, is actually just tap water that is "purified." -

Mon, June 18, 2007 - 5:48 PMAlso, just to note, about the industrial waste products from pesticides and herbicides, a lot of pharmaceutical companies are also the owners of pesticide and herbicide companies. Interesting to note.
