Re: Let's not forget, it's not just.....
Wed, October 21, 2009 - 3:39 PMThaty's funny about the rapture because I've read the Bible before and I never ever ran across the part that told of an oncoming rapture where the believers were going to be wisked away and the rest of us will be left here.... Isn't all of that just something some guy made made up and the church bought it hook line and sinker? -

Matthew 25:13
Wed, October 21, 2009 - 6:07 PMThe Jehovah's Witnesses made sure, in 1984, that no one else would be able to top their record of most wrong doomsday predictions. The Witnesses' record currently holds at nine. The years are: 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, and 1984. Lately, the JWs are claiming they're out of the prediction business, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. They'll be back.
there is a Jehovah's Witness lady visiting me every weekend now (i haven't decided to politely decline her yet though i fear her time is nearly up)..
anyway she is trying to convince me that the End Times are in fact upon us..
she's asked what i would like to discuss this coming weekend and i've elected Revelation.. as the only other time i've discussed it was with a Carmelite nun in the Rainbow Region when i was considering joining a convent haha umm but wow it's an unusual way of life.. she was behind bars as we spoke.. and at one time she actually picked up a piece of fluff and removed it from her sanctified side dropping it on my putrid side of the bars lol it was kinda cool.. anyway she had a very distinct concept of Satan (and she was adamant i couldn't go to the underworld to redeem him).. whereas Jehovah's Witnesses apparently don't believe in Hell.
anyway i've heard word of Mary Magdalene in fact being the scribe of Revelation, and not John. unfortunately when i said i had a lot of questions, this lady replied, "well we'll look at them and then you can answer them for yourself.." d'oh.

orphy......you amaze me
yes, it's in Revelations, as far as i know....my grandma used to talk about it all the time and i would just cringe at her belief that actually people will be lifted up out of their graves and carried up to heaven (IF they are believers, etc.)......i would try to tell her i thought it was symbolic, but she never wanted to hear that part -

Thu, October 22, 2009 - 2:13 AMbtw cali, those witnesses will never listen to you, you know that right? even if you tell them you already believe in jesus, they won't leave you alone until you go into their faith.....

Re: mene, mene, tekel, upharsin...
Thu, October 22, 2009 - 2:41 AMwhy are people so scared of JW's...?
or is it just mistrust of anybody that isn't armed and drugged up to the eyeballs...?
when I realised the local matrix had cursed me to death the witnesses showed up and saved my life...
I spent a winter going along to some of their meetings...
it seemed like about the only opportunity of seeing local people who weren't too off their faces... hahaha
they were all a bit too weird looking for me to hang with them for long but they seemed less awful than most people...
weird how they just read bits out of pamphlets and then go over the points and agree...
I thought that seemed a bit retarded but in fact I guess it's a basic life skill...
and they certainly seemed to be doing ok financially and had some kind of community thing going on...
I wonder what they thought of me...?
I was in enlightened gnostic hippy witchcraft mode waiting for the spaceships to come with garlic and wort stuff hanging all over the place to keep the vampires away... hahaha -

Re: mene, mene, tekel, upharsin...
Thu, October 22, 2009 - 4:22 AMyeah like at one point i said 'i believe in God like i've seen God, but i just don't know who it is.. like what to call 'Him'' and she goes, 'oh well now you do! next time you pray, you pray to Jehovah, in Jesus' name!' and i was just stunned for a moment then said, 'well i don't feel comfortable doing that yet.. after all God's name hasn't been given to me yet, and i wouldn't want to go calling Him the wrong thing just incase it's actually Shiva or something.. so i'll just call Him Lord til i know..' and she was like 'yeah but that's just like man or woman or teacher, just a label, not a name.. but that's no problem, if you don't feel comfortable..'
then i thought to myself later that day.. damn it'd be ironic if i became a 'Jehovah's' 'Witness'! :D
to be honest there are a couple other names i feel are more likely to be that of the one i saw but i'm not gonna choose willynilly. and besides from what i've read the vowels in Jehovah are educated guesses only, so i'd be more inclined to work out those vowels before jumping in and calling God Jehovah..
so, really.. a religion HAS TO MAKE SENSE if i'm going to take it seriously. i've got the faith part down pat but that doesn't excuse a half-arsed justification of doctrine. i don't have a problem with people who have blind faith (lots of people just 'know' and that's all there is to it), but if that means they're blindly following some kind of scripture without any conscious intelligence, they've lost me.. i think they should just keep their relationship with God to themselves if the only reason they assert a teaching is because it's official to them. hehe yes she does just open up the bible or a pamphlet and ask me to read the passage out loud, and then gives me a "see?" look.. to which of course i nod in agreement.
well i'm sure they thought you were lovely who wouldn't.. this lady likes me i think.. she and her little helper hugged me when they left the other day and she says she likes talking to me and she told my mum i am really beautiful and intelligent and that i am soooo one of the 144000 :D ok i lied about the last part
but they don't believe in abortion (check) or blood transfusions (check) which i suppose are trivial but anyway *shrug* and they refuse to go to war, going to jail instead. so that established passivity is pretty cool too i spose!
anyway so long as we're open to eachother and respectful of eachother's faith we could work some things out (just in time for the rapture)! in Jesus' name..
as for Revelation, well i got another hint from something i read today: Now, then, behold how the head of the dragon is but the tail of the Aethyr! (and no i'm not reading Crowley ~ besides about Babalon a few times over the years ~ i'm a bit scared yet :S maybe i'll start out using his book like biblomancy and ease my way into it hehe)
