I see that John Major Jenkins has a new book out:

The 2012 Story: The Myths, Fallacies, and Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History
www.amazon.com/2012-Story...1585427667/

Anyone read it yet?

I just picked up a copy today. You'll be interested to know that his footnotes include URLs for discussions we've had here in the Year 2012 tribe, although he mistakenly refers to it in one place as "the Tribe 2012 Yahoo group."

There's a discussion of my ideas in a section called "The Hammer of Mayanism" (p. 223-230), named for a Wikipedia entry:

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayanism

Or in the case of what oba wrote here, it should probably be "damn with feigned praise."

Hopes and I know eachother for a while, in good and bad times, i need to say no more to you or to any one else about my first comment on this tread

however if you feel like you want to spill some toxins here, then that is you choice .... the seed you plant is what you will harvest ... remember that when you chant your Buddhist Mantrams

I don't want to be the center of a scuffle here! You're both excellent friends and there's no need to get huffy.

Lest you jump to assumptions, JMJ doesn't agree with everything I have to say and I definitely don't agree with him on many points. Getting mentioned in his book is a dubious distinction at best.

While "damning with feigned praise" is a great turn of phrase, it doesn't quite capture how he presents my ideas. There are some slight misrepresentations of reality and a gentle bending of the facts that regular members of this tribe and others who've paid attention to our online exchanges will catch. That said, I think he's mostly fair in his representation of what I actually think and I do appreciate his giving me credit where I think credit is due.

That said, the book would be better titled "A Story of 2012" instead of "The Story of 2012.

The story that I would tell is quite different from JMJ's.

                I had a friend once.
There is always the possibility of writing a follow up, or alternate view book called "The other 2012 book"
