Are these artificial wires that we communicate thru good for us? I'm feeling like I should turn my computer into a frame for artwork or something. I felt the effects very strong last night.... the buzzing in my body and the padding in my mind. What AM I doing? jeez.....

Some people (us) are definitely hurting themselves by their addiction to computers and cyberspace. When people lose their jobs, or flunk out of school, or are divorced by their spouses because they cannot resist devoting all of their time to virtual lands, they are pathologically addicted. These extreme cases are clear cut. But as in all addictions, the problem is where to draw the line between "normal" enthusiasm and "abnormal" preoccupation.

Why do we spend so much time on Computers?
What does it profit Nature?
How much landfill is used up for dead computers alone a year?

Do you feel preoccupied with the Internet or on-line services and think about it while off line?
Do you feel a need to spend more and more time on line to achieve satisfaction?
Are you unable to control your on-line use?
Do you feel restless or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop your on-line use?
Do you go on line to escape problems or relieve feelings such as helplessness, guilt, anxiety or depression?
Do you lie to family members or friends to conceal how often and how long you stay online?
Do you risk the loss of a significant relationship, job, or educational or career opportunity because of your on-line use?
Do you keep returning even after spending too much money on on-line fees?
Do you go through withdrawal when off line, such as increased depression, moodiness, or irritability?
Do you stay on line longer than originally intended?
Are you neglecting important things in your life because of this behavior?
Is this behavior disrupting your relationships with important people in your life?
Do important people in your life get annoyed or disappointed with you about this behavior?
Do you get defensive or irritable when people criticize this behavior?
Do you ever feel guilty or anxious about what you are doing?
Have you ever found yourself being secretive about or trying to "cover up" this behavior?
Have you ever tried to cut down, but were unable to?
If you were honest with yourself, do you feel there is another hidden need that drives this behavior?

What causes humans to be addicted to computers? Is it the radiation? Loneliness? The Speed in which we can access information and communicate around the world? Does the energy from a computer go directly into our brains and condition our Neuroleptic center to need artificial stimulation?

I'm begining to rethink all this computer Jazz. It feels more and more dangerous to humanity when I think deeply about this.

Prior to 1996, the wireless age was not coming online fast enough, primarily because communities had the authority to block the siting of cell towers. But the Federal Communications Act of 1996 made it nearly impossible for communities to stop construction of cell towers "even if they pose threats to public health and the environment. Since the decision to enter the age of wireless convenience was politically determined for us, we have forgotten well-documented safety and environmental concerns and, with a devil-may-care zeal that is lethally short-sighted, we have incorporated into our lives every wireless toy that comes on the market. We behave as if we are addicted to radiation. Our addiction to cell phones has led to harder "drugs" like wireless Internet.

Illa Garcia wore jewelry the first day she went back to work as a fire lookout for the state of California in the summer of 2002. The intense radiation from dozens of RF/microwave antennas surrounding the lookout heated the metals on her body enough to burn her skin. "I still have those scars," she says. "I never wore jewelry to work after that."

Likely Mountain Lookout, on U.S. Forest Service land with a spectacular view of Mount Shasta, is one of thousands of RF/microwave "hot spots" across the nation. A newly-erected cellular communications tower was only 30 feet from the lookout. "One antenna on that tower was even with our heads," recalls Garcia. "We could hear high-pitched buzzing. There were also three state communications antennas mounted on the lookout, only 6 feet from where we walked. We climbed past them every day."

Motorola company manuals for management of communications sites confirm that high frequency radiation from these antennas is nasty stuff. Safety regulations mandate warning signs, EMF awareness training, protective gear, even transmitter deactivation for personnel working that close to antennas. Garcia and co-worker Mary Jasso were never warned about the hazards. This, they say, demonstrates extreme malfeasance on the part of agencies and commercial companies responsible for their exposure.

RF/microwaves from cell phones and cell tower transmitters also cause micronuclei damage in blood cells. This was reported a decade ago by Drs. Henry Lai and Narendrah Singh, biomedical researchers at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Singh is famous for refining comet assay techniques used to identify DNA damage. Lai and Singh demonstrated in numerous animal studies that mobile phone radiation quickly causes DNA single and double strand breaks at levels well below the current federal "safe" exposure standards.

Dr. George Carlo, a public health expert who coordinated the WTR studies, confirms that exposure to communications radiation from wireless technology is "potentially the biggest health insult" this nation has ever seen. Dr. Carlo believes RF/microwave radiation is a greater threat than cigarette smoking and asbestos.

Because gamma waves and RF/microwave radiation are identically carcinogenic and genotoxic to the cellular roots of life, the safe dose of either kind of radiation is zero. No study has proven that any level of exposure from cell-damaging radiation is safe for humans. Dr. Carlo confirms that cell damage is not dose dependant because any exposure level, no matter how small, can trigger damage response by cell mechanisms.

Officials at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health closely reviewed the damning results of WTR studies, which also revealed microwave damage to the blood brain barrier. But these officials have chosen to downplay, obfuscate and even deny the irrepressible science of the day. Raking in $billions from selling spectrum licenses, the feds have allowed the telecom industry to unleash demonstrably dangerous technology which induces millions of people to become brain-intimate with improperly tested wireless devices and which saturates the nation with carcinogenic waves to service those devices. Dr. Carlo says that even the American Cancer Society is in bed with the communications industry, which infuses the Society with substantial contributions.

Each of us can break the seductive, but oppressive wireless habit ourselves. We can play no game, use no wireless Internet system, make no trivial phone call that necessitates enlarging America's dense forest of wireless transmitters. If no one buys WiMAX-enabled devices and related services, this dangerous system will fail.

Whenever possible, we can go back to the old-fashioned, corded phones and message machines which made yesteryear a far more healthy time. Cordless household and office phones emit powerful megahertz or gigahertz microwave radiation, causing damage to hearing, eyesight and brain function. DECT cordless phones irradiate a huge area even when not in use. We can encourage others to contact us by conventional land line phones only. Can we enjoy a leisurely conversation knowing that an irradiated caller risks disease and disability for mindless chatter? What good is wireless convenience if it means being ultimately tethered to a hospital bed? We can teach our children that health is more important than passing convenience and instant gratification.

Earth is wrapped in a donut shaped magnetic field. Circular lines of magnetic flux continuously descend into the North Pole and emerge from the South Pole. The Ionosphere, an electromagnetic-wave conductor, 100 kilometers [62 miles] above the earth, consists of a layer of electrically charged particles acting as a shield from solar winds.

Natural waves are created which result from electrical activity in the atmosphere. They are thought to be caused by multiple lightning storms. Collectively, these waves are called 'The Schumann Resonance', with the strongest current registering at 7.8 Hz. These are quasi-standing [scalar], extremely low frequency (ELF) waves that naturally exist in the earth's electromagnetic cavity which is the space between ground and the Ionosphere. These 'earth brainwaves' are identical to the frequency spectrum of our human brainwaves.

The Creator designed living beings to resonate to the11 natural Schumann Resonance frequency pulsation in order to evolve harmoniously. The Ionosphere is being manipulated by US government scientists using the Alaskan transmitter called HAARP, (High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) which sends focused radiated power to heat up sections of the Ionosphere, which bounces power down again. ELF waves produced from HAARP, when targeted on selected areas, can weather-engineer and create mood changes affecting millions of people. The intended wattage is 1,700 billion watts of power.

In 1963, Dr Robert Beck explored effects of external magnetic-fields on brainwaves showing a relationship between psychiatric admissions and solar magnetic storms. He exposed volunteers to pulsed magnetic-fields similar to magnetic-storms, and found a similar response. US 60 Hz electric power ELF waves vibrate at the same frequency as the human brain. UK 50 Hz electricity emissions depress the thyroid gland.

Dr Andrija Puharich in the 50's/60's, found that clairvoyant's brainwaves became 8 Hz when their psychic powers were operative. He saw an Indian Yogi in 1956 controlling his brainwaves, deliberately shifting his consciousness from one level to another. Puharich trained people with bio-feedback to do this consciously, making 8 Hz waves. A healer made 8 Hz waves pass into a patient, healing their heart trouble, her brain emitting 8 Hz . One person emitting a certain frequency can make another also resonate to the same frequency. Our brains are extremely vulnerable to any technology which sends out ELF waves, because they immediately start resonating to the outside signal by a kind of tuning-fork effect. Puharich experimented discovering that

A) 7.83 Hz (earth's pulse rate) made a person feel good, producing an altered-state.
B) 10.80 Hz causes riotious behaviour and
C) 6.6 Hz causes depression.

Puharich made ELF waves change RNA and DNA, breaking hydrogen bonds to make a person have a higher vibratory rate. He wanted to go beyond the psychic 8 Hz brainwave and attract psi phenomena. James Hurtak, who once worked for Puharich, also wrote in his book The Keys of Enoch that ultra-violet caused hydrogen bonds to break and this raised the vibratory rate.

Puharich presented the mental effects of ELF waves to military leaders, but they would not believe him. He gave this information to certain dignitaries of other Western nations. The US government burned down his home in New York to shut him up and he fled to Mexico. However, the Russians discovered which ELF frequencies did what to the human brain and began zapping the US Embassy in Moscow on 4 July 1976 with electromagnetic-waves, varying the signal, including focusing on 10 Hz. (10 Hz puts people into a hypnotic state. Russians and North Koreans use this in portable mind-control machines to extract confessions. A machine was even found in an American church to help the congregation believe!) The Russian "Woodpecker" signal was traveling across the world from a transmitter near Kiev. The US Air Force identified 5 different frequencies in this compound harmonic Woodpecker signal that was sending signals through the earth and the atmosphere.

Nikola Tesla revealed in 1901 power could be transmitted through the ground using ELF waves. Nothing stops or weakens these signals. The Russians retrieved Tesla's papers when they were finally returned to Yugoslavia after his death.

Puharich continued to monitor the Russian ELF wave signal while in Mexico and the higher harmonics produced in the MHz range (5.340 MHz). He met the CIA and started working for them. He and Dr. Robert Beck designed equipment to measure these waves and their effect on the human brain. Puharich started his work by putting dogs to sleep. By 1948/49 he graduated to monkeys, deliberately destroying their eardrums to enable them to pick up sounds without the eardrum intact. He discovered a nerve in the tongue could be used to facilitate hearing. He created the dental tooth implant which mind-control victims are now claiming was surreptitiously placed in their mouth by controlled dentists causing them to hear 'voices in their head.' The implant was placed under dental caps or lodged in the jaw.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are sensitive to earth's magnetic changes, changes in the ionospheric cavity and re-resonate those frequencies ourselves. We are incredibly complex, beyond comprehension and a type of biocosmic transducer. Our brains are so sensitive that they are like liquid-crystal in response to the magnetic component of the earth.
"Physicists in Russia correlate the mean annual magnetic-activity, electro-magnetic and electro-static fields on human behavior and medical indications.They are similar to biorhythms.These magnetic frequencies can be manipulated. Our brain waves can mimic magnetic frequencies from very simple equipment at extremely low power levels. From half a second to 4 seconds later, the neurons and brainwaves are driven exclusively by the device, with power levels almost nonexistent. All one needs is a circularly polarized antenna aimed up at the ionospheric cavity and they can manipulate the moods of everyone within a 75 sq. mile area. The body picks up these "new" manipulated waves and begins to correspond immediately. "Sleep" frequency will make everyone become tired and sleep." - Al Bielek
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Intense.

Now HAARP is slicing up the ionosphere, the world-brain, like a microwave knife, producing long tear incisions destroying the membrane which holds the reservoir of data accumulated by all earth's history. A healer called Mr. "A" claimed to receive "Ancient Wisdom" from this protective Magnetic-Ring of energy which stores within it all knowledge since time began.

He claimed that if our energy flow is cut off from this magnetic-field, the Universal-Supply is obstructed and we are no longer in tune and start to get sick. The Power from this travels in split-seconds around the world and is available to anyone who is capable of receiving it and handling it.

Some 'ETs' may be local boys. Voices in the head were produced in prisoners in Utah prisons using Tesla technology. Each of the prisoners received the same message from an 'ET'. Today, it's easy to produce 'voices in the head' without implants.

That which we term 'reality' as expressed mentally byour brain is being altered and changed into different expressions to allow complete control of our personal reality, normally operative in a divinely ordained natural frequency. We must not allow them to succeed through ignorance of this technology.

    Great thread. I think about the nature of addiction quite frequently (it's part of my job description too...) and it's unfortunately more and more obvious that artificially generated addictions are part of the greater agenda. Not just the computer or electronic addictions. An overall addictive relationship with technology and novelty, everything that is "new", recently invented.

    Whole marketing strategies are built on how to exploit our addictions. Chocolate bars are placed low in the stores, so the kids can reach them, we are truly bombarded from all sides to consume more, regardless if it's addictive (sugar, coffee, tobacco, alcohol) or not.

    Replace the "television" with the "internet" in this Terence McKenna quote...

    Electronic drugs

    In his science fiction novel The Man in the High Castle, Philip K. Dick imagined an alternative world in which World War II had been won by the Japanese and the Third Reich. In Dick's fictional world, the Japanese occupation authorities introduced and legalized marijuana as one of their first moves at pacifying the population of California. Things hardly less strange here is what conventional wisdom lightheartedly refers to as "reality". In "this world", too, the victors introduced an all-pervasive, ultra-powerful society-sharpening drug. This drug was the first of a growing group of high-technology drugs that deliver the user into an alternative reality by acting directly on the user's sensorium, without chemicals being introduced into the nervous system. It was television. No epidemic or addictive craze or religious hysteria has ever moved faster or made as many converts in so short time.

    The nearest analogy to the addictive power of television and the transformation of values that is wrought in the life of the heavy user is probably heroin. Heroin flattens the image; with heroin, things are neither hot nor cold; the junkie looks out at the world certain that whatever it is, it does not matter. The illusion of knowing and of control that heroin engenders is analogous to the unconscious assumption of the television consumer that was is seen is "real" somewhere in the world. In fact, what is seen are the cosmetically enhanced surfaces of products. Television, while chemically non-invasive, nevertheless is every bit as addicting and physiologically damaging as any other drug:

    Not unlike drugs or alcohol, the television experience allows the participant to blot out the real world and enter into a pleasurable and passive mental state. The worries and anxieties of reality are as effectively deferred by becoming absorbed in a television program as by going on a "trip" induced by drugs or alcohol. And just as alcoholics are only vaguely aware of their addiction, feeling that they control their drinking more than they really do... people similarly overestimate their control over television watching...Finally it is the adverse effect of television viewing on the lives of so many people that defines it as a serious addiction. The television habit distorts the sense of time. It renders other experiences vague and curiously unreal while taking on a greater reality for itself. It weakens relationships by reducing and sometimes eliminating normal opportunities for talking, for communicating.

    • What is Technophiliacs Anonymous?

      Mon, February 4, 2008 - 5:02 PM
      Technophiliacs Anonymous is a multi-faceted fellowship based on a desire to know the hidden side-effects of technology, to popularize the awareness of the hidden side-effects of technology on our social, psychological, economic and spiritual beings, and to counter the destructive consequences of technological addiction. With established meetings in many cities in the United States and abroad, this self-help fellowship is open to anyone, and any institution, who suffers from a compulsive need to use technology, and those desperately attached to a specific technology such as the telephone, the computer, the television, the automobile, etc. Technological addiction also includes a pathological interest in destructive, coercive and invasive technologies. What all members have in common is the realization that the compulsive attachment to technology has become increasingly destructive to all areas of their lives -- family, career, environment, society and political institutions.

      +++

      It may seem that technological addiction is a trivial and unimportant matter compared to the more obvious and important issue of cigarette smoking; yet, technological addiction has greater consequences for us all the longer we ignore it. Technophiliacs are not the only victims of their addiction, but their creations often are at the root of important and world-wide dangers and all of us become victims. Beneficial social changes came about because of increased social awareness of the dangers of the hidden side-effects of tobacco addiction, and the same social awareness now extends to alcohol and drug addiction. The same social awareness is now beginning to be felt in environmental and ecological areas, because of PCB contaminations, acid rain, toxic waste treatment procedures, atmospheric pollution and other technological hidden side effects now making themselves known. It may become obvious that there is an increasing awareness of the hidden side effects to technological things we think are simple, are not.

      It is the position of Technophiliacs Anonymous that society needs to become aware of its dangerous addiction to technology and to begin to cope with its co-dependent issues, as well as the underlying and important hidden side effects.

      +++

      Why Technology Can Be Addicting

      The use of technology for the purpose of lessening pain or augmenting pleasure, by a person, institution, government or business who has lost control over the rate, frequency or duration of its use, and whose corporate or individual psychological, economic, social and spiritual life has become progressively unmanageable as a result isaddicted to that technology.

      Technological addiction extends from teenagers addicted to television, to yuppie programmers making piles of money, to a military establishment addicted to acquiring newer, faster and more exotic destructive forces, to a government intent on knowing and controlling everything possible, to real estate agents with a perverted sense of "highest and best use."

      Technophiliacs Anonymous believe that an addiction exists not just because we need or use technology more than others, but because of the motive. A technophiliac uses technology to lessen the pain that comes from problems in other areas of life. Governmental and business institutions use technology to regulate and control life, a behavior which is typical of co-dependents.

      As we collectively or individually seek someone or something to 'take us away from all this,' we are really seeking to avoid reality altogether. We come to use a technology as a substitution for other satisfactions, to comfort ourselves for real or imagined needs, or to avoid or try to make unnecessary attending to a life that seems to give us too much pain.

      Even the humble electric light, used to provide illumination at night to read, has become a substitution for other satisfactions such as observing the night, and it comforts us in driving away the mysterious darkness, and helps us avoid our own thoughts, those same thoughts we need to think in order to keep our life in balance. Even the electric light has the side effect of keeping our life out of balance in very subtle ways. The cumulative effect of millions of lives out of balance causes disastrous effects over the entire planet. More technology is not the answer.

      In our addiction to technology it seems as though the power lies elsewhere, and that our lives are being destroyed by forces and tensions that cannot be denied and by problems that cannot be escaped. For the technophiliac, closeness to others has become increasingly rare and difficult. It is easier for the technophiliac to have a relationship with his car, television or computer than with his mate,
      his children, or his neighbors.

      Within an institution, it may be easier for an institutional technophiliac to buy more computers, hire more consultants, process more data faster, make heavier reports, create ever more sophisticated military hardware, than to have a real and meaningful relationship with its clients, citizens or employees. What can you do if you admit, however reluctantly, that technological addiction might be the problem, instead of lack of 'enough' or the 'right kind' of technology?

      Thanks guys.... (Auton & Alex) for the information.

      It certainly is something to be aware of. I have been off line for awhile, and now that I've indulged myself these past few days I am feeling how addictive this artificial world can be.

      But I like it! lol!

      Seriously though..... someday we are going to have to shut it all down. I wonder.... imagine what would happen if everyone shut off their computers. Do you think anything major would happen?

      Technology can be a friendly tool, when you turn it off or close its pages, it don't mind; it won't scream, beg or plead;
      it can't nag, intimidate or back you in a corner.

      You can try and love it, but it can't love you back.

        and further more.....

        The coca plant growing on a Columbian mountain side isn't yelling. 'Put me in a pipe and smoke me!'

        The new ultra-thin Apple isn't banging on your door and telling you, 'You've got to get me now!'

        I don't really see how one can blame an addictive object, or even a pusher of an addictive object, if something is missing from a life, something will fill that hole; even more so, if someone is missing from a life, someone is needed to fill their place.

        As we near seven billion people on this planet the same situation that may have caused life to begin, oh those many moons ago, remains
        the same, as then is now; it isn't war, scarcity, pestilence, plague, hatred, bigotry, genocide, greed, envy or even jealousy. It's about holes that can't be filled with things, it's about people missing from our lives, without someone there to fill their place.
